Bankend’s history

Bankend is a locality in central Saskatchewan, set between the Touchwood Hills and the Beaver Hills. Foam Lake, Ituna, Leslie, Wishart, West Bend and Leross are among the other communities in the area.

Bankend was a booming agricultural community. In 1928 Highway 35 arrived, and four grain elevators were built there. The highway still runs through the community, close to where Highway 35 meets Highway 743.

Children in the area attended Cresswell School Division #2074, a one-room schoolhouse built near Bankend. Henry Dayday, who later became mayor of Saskatoon, was born near Bankend.
